The White Stripes... Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground... A Perfect Lyric

 tommyrawblog@gmail.com

A Perfect Lyric

I love this entire album!

This one tune though
is by far THE coolest
"love letter"
to any girl... eva!!

It doesn't sound lovey dovey but yet...
it is!

It's really one of my favorite songs
and albums as well!

From start to finish...
brilliant!

And this one lyric... wow!
If you do not feel this way
about YOUR chick...
then she's NOT the right girl for you!!!

The White Stripes... White Blood Cells
White Blood Cells

Dead Leaves and the dirty ground
When I know you're not around
Shiny tops and soda pops
When I hear your lips make a sound
When I hear your lips make a sound

Thirty notes in the mailbox
Will tell you that I'm coming home
And I think I'm gonna stick around
For a while so you're not alone
For a while so you're not alone

If you can hear a piano fall
You can hear me coming down the hall
If I could just hear your pretty voice
I don't think I need to see at all
Don't think I need to see at all

Soft hair and a velvet tongue
I wanna give you what'cha give to me
And every breath that is in your lungs
Is a tiny little gift to me
Is a tiny little gift to me

I didn't feel so bad till the sun went down
Then I come home
No one to wrap my arms around
Wrap my arms around

Well any man with a microphone
Can tell you what he loves the most
And you know why you love at all
If you're thinking of the Holy Ghost
If you're thinking of the Holy Ghost

The Doors... Summer's Almost Gone... A Perfect Lyric

Tommyrawblog@gmail.com

A Perfect Lyric

I recently purchased and received an

amazing collection of mostly unpublished

writings by the man himself...

Jim Morrison!

His family came forward with many

notebooks that Jim had used over the years...

for poetry... lyrics...

and general ramblings.

It's a must have for ANY Doors fan for sure!

The collected works of Jim Morrison

Anyways...

it got me to break out my Doors cd's...

and then I suddenly popped in

Waiting For The Sun

Waiting For The Sun... by THE DOORS

and as I was singing a song...

that I've probably sung 689 times

in my silly life...

I was just transformed

to another place and time.

It just made me feel like I was

a kid again listening to this album

for the very first time.

So fuckin' cool!

Absolutely love the entire album,

and while "Love Street"

is my favorite of the album...

this song... was the one...

to capture ALL of my attention...

Summer's Almost Gone

It's certainly one of their

lesser known songs... but when you sing,

and let that lyric sink into your brain...

wow... it's simply perfection!

It just rolls right off of your tongue.

It's so visual!

Morrison will always live with my friend

and me within the trip we took

to Paris France to drink with our

rock 'n roll hero.

May 4th, 1983

the day Billy & myself

partied with Jim Morrison!

Summer's Almost Gone

Summer's almost gone

Summer's almost gone

Almost gone

Yeah... it's almost gone

Where will we be

When the summer's gone

Morning found us calmly unaware

Noon burned gold into our hair

At night we swam the laughin' sea

When summer's gone

Where will we be

Where will we be

Where will we be

Summer's almost gone

Where will we be

Summer's almost gone

Summer's almost gone

We had some good times

But they're gone

The winter's coming on

Summer's almost gone

The Eagles... Already Gone... A Perfect Lyric

A Perfect Lyric

I heard this song on the radio
while driving back home today...
fuckin' AWESOME!
STILL!!

At first I was listening to
Aerosmith's "Live Bootleg" cd...
love that muthafuckin album!

Right after the last notes to
"Train Kept A Rollin'"...
and the fading of the crowd noise...
I switched over to the radio
and the song was right at the part
of these most perfect lyrics...
that I've heard, AND sang,
a million times over mind you but...

... for some reason, this time around,
they just hit me over the head
like a ton of fucking perfection.

Profound reality
is truly a wonderful thing isn't it!!

The song I'm talking about,
is performed by
The Eagles
The Eagles
The Eagles
The Eagles

I made the switch to the radio
and this... is what I heard...

"Well I know it wasn't you
who held me down
Heaven knows it wasn't you
who set me free
So often times it happens
that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know
we have the key"

The Eagles... Already Gone
The Eagles... Already Gone

WOW!
That whole verse is amazing but...
it's the second line that just
fuckin' resonated with me SO much
at that very moment.

To realize that it's YOU...
who is the one that's holding YOU...
back...
from being everything
and doing everything...
that your little heart desires
is such a fucking wake up call
I have to tell ya... LoL
wow!!

And that fucking amazing dirty guitar
at the 2:36 point of the song
right after the word "free"...
just kicks my ass...
every time...
still!!

It was written by two guys
Jack Tempchin & Robb Strandlund
and was on the Eagles 1974 release...

Elton John... I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues... A Perfect Lyric

A Perfect Lyric

" Wait on me girl
cry in the night... if it helps

But more than ever...

I simply love you...
more than I love...
life... itself "

When I finally figured out
just what the heck Elton was saying
here with this line...
I welled up like a muthafuckin' baby... LoL

And no...
it wasn't the whole divorce,
sick of dating thing either.
It was just a much bigger picture type thing!

I was stopped dead in my tracks
and was completely overtaken
by an tsunami of emotion!

I'll never forget it!

So simple a thought.
Until you realize that you don't have...
that feeling inside of you!

Holy crap...

what an amazing observation!

And... what an amazing thought!

It's a thought that I've kind of lost track of...

which is of course...
the thought of once again
having that feeling
filling me up
giving me the strength
of a thousand men!!

But does that feeling...
that "you"...
have to be about...

a person ??
a god ??
a philosophy ??

I wonder if we can make that "you"...
mean absolutely ANYTHING
we damn well want it to mean ??

Wow... too neat!

I Guess That's Why
They Call It The Blues
(Song with Official video included)

Lik'em or not...

you just have to admit
that he's one talented muthafucka
with a tremendous resiliency.
I've been hearing his voice
coming through my speakers,
crooning creative tunes,
ever since I was a kid!!

Elton John & Bernie Taupin 1970
Elton John... he's just too cool!!

Ozzy Osbourne... Road to Nowhere... A Perfect Lyric

tommyrawblog@gmail.com

A Perfect Lyric

Plain 'n simple...
this song AND lyric
combine to create my favorite
"feel sorry for myself"
song!

Hey... we ALL need one!
AND... we ALL have one!
And if you say you don't...
you're a fuckin' liar...
and are now banned
from ever reading my blog again!!

"No soup for you...
2 months!!!"

Okay okay you can stay.
Ya know,
since I'm a big fat liar as well and all... LoL

He's not everyone's cup off tea...
but take away all of the silly public displays,
reality shows and such...
and it's impossible not to love the lyrics
and that fucking haunting voice!

Ozzy Osbourne

My favorite "aarrr... poor tommy" lyric
comes from the song
Road To Nowhere

from the 1991 album
No More Tears

Ozzy Osbourne No More Tears album

"The wreckage of my past
keeps haunting me...
it just won't leave me alone.
I still find it all a mystery
could it be a dream...
the road to nowhere...
leads to me!"

Dont'cha just wanna fuckin' cry... LoL

Sometimes a cry like this
is just as stress-relieving
as a wet... sloppy 'n swallowed
orally enhanced experience!

NOW...
you can order the lobster babygirl!!

Oh be quiet...
that was funny 'n you know it!

THE WHO ( Pete Townshend )... A Perfect Lyric

A Perfect Lyric

This is just another category
I've been meaning to start up,
posting some of my favorite lyrics
that I've heard and been singing
most of my life.

We all have certain words,
sayings, and of course song lyrics
that stick to us like glue!

Some of them cause you to cry,
to perhaps wonder why.
While some of them
most certainly inspire you to heights
you've never ever thought possible.
Even if it's for but a split second,
those words can transform
your entire being!!

Just like I wrote about in the
Rock 'n Roll Bookmarks
post.

That feeling of being transformed
to another place 'n time by a song,
a note, and of course a lyric
is an undeniable force of human nature!

That's just too neat isn't it!?

Well this first lyric that will begin
this brand new category
comes to mind whenever I'm in that
"zone"...
in that creative wilderness,
pulling thoughts and emotions
out of my head and onto paper.

Thinking of this single lyric
just inspires the crap outta me,
and helps me to somehow focus.

This could be, and maybe is...
my most favorite single lyric of all time.
I know, there's SO many to choose from.
But there's just something about these words
that flow,
that ignites the flame
of creativity inside of me.

And I always end up laughing as well.

Because I've been writing things down,
thoughts, passions, disappointments
and so on for many many...
many years now.
And I don't think I've ever approached,
or even come close
to matching the perfection
of these simple words!

Pete Townshend is the man for sure.

Pete Townshend THE WHO
Pete Townshend THE WHO... and yes... I know the photo was enhanced lol! Not even Pete can catch THAT much air!!!
Pete Townshend THE WHO
Pete Townshend THE WHO
Pete Townshend THE WHO
Pete Townshend THE WHO
Pete Townshend THE WHO
Pete Townshend THE WHO
I drew this when I was a kid way back when LoL John Keith Pete & Roger

The lyric comes from the song
Bell Boy

from my most favorite "go to" album to date... Quadrophenia

THE WHO Quadrophenia 1973

"A beach is a place
where a man can feel...

he's the only soul
in the world that's real!"

How awesome is that!!

There will be others from Pete
AND this album
as time goes by, so many others!
But for now,
this simple string of words, rule the day!

You have a favorite lyric???

Well... lemme hear it will ya!
